Yurimaguas Capital of the Alto Amazonas province. It is located in the northeastern part of the country, on the left bank of the Huallaga River between the mouths of the Shanusi and Paranapura rivers, 182 meters above sea level.
It is surrounded by the magic of the jungle: unforgettable sunsets, delicious cuisine and the warmth of its people. Its name comes from the Yuri and Omagua tribes, which together form the word Yurimaguas.
The tourist week is celebrated from August 5 to 15. Its patron saint is the Virgen de las Nieves and its temple is located on the corner of Jaúregui and Castilla streets. The temple is a neo-Gothic style building, built between 1928 - 1931.
In Yurimaguas you can visit many natural tourist sites and learn about ancestral customs, which have prevailed over time for many years.
Yurimaguas is located at the gateway to the Amazon rainforest, surrounded by nature. Although it is not 100% exploited by tourism, there are many tourist places that you can visit.
