The first of the Classic Inca Trail begins at Km. 82, in the town of Patallaqta, at an altitude of 2,800 meters, from this place you walk around 8 hours, through Inca trails, and in permanent contact with nature, until reach the area of the first camp, in the Andean village of Hauyllabamba, the same one that is 3000 meters above sea level. The itinerary of the second day is the most demanding. You will have a walk of 7 to 8 hours, and then climb up to 4215 meters to the highest point called Warmihuañusca. In the open sky, there is a prodigious high Andean landscape accompanied by snow-capped mountains and surrounded by a typical puna vegetation.

The third day, the landscape changes remarkably. Little by little you will be able to appreciate the welcome to the jungle area. The climate is different and of course also the flora and fauna. In this 8-hour stretch, we continue traveling to Wiñayhuayna, where you can see several Inca archaeological sites, such as Runkuracay, or Phuyupatamarca (known as the city in the clouds because it is a very foggy area). Finally, you get to spend the night in the last camp.

Finally, the physical effort, will be rewarded, upon reaching Inti Punku (door of the sun). This Inca construction, allows to see the impressive sunrise, and appreciate the way it bathes and illuminates little by little, the magical city of Machu Picchu.

After living the experience of sunrise in Machu Picchu, you will descend to visit the Inca city and for 3 hours you can visit its squares, precincts, temples and stairways, of this mystical Inca city.

The Inca Trek Machu Picchu ends in the town of Aguas Calientes, where the train will return to the city of Cusco.

The best time to Machu Picchu Trail tour
