How far in advance to book Salkantay Trek? The Salkantay Trek has departures guaranteed, but train tickets and entrance to Machu Picchu are subjet to availability. For that reason, we HIGHLY recommend booking it in advance to ensure you receive exactly what you want!
PLEASE NOTE: The best time to do the Salkantay trek is on March, April, May, June, July, August and September. The weather is dry season and usually you can appreciate the grandeur of glaciar of the Salkantay Mountain. On March, April, November and December, usually is raining (2 hrs or 30 min) and the flora and fauna is best on the trek. This months are HIGH TOURIST SEASON in Cusco. It means that train tickets ARE SELL OUT QUICKLY!! Please be aware that the trek leaves daily; however, return train tickets may not be available, if you like to book on last moment.
