How far in advance to book Salkantay Trek

How far in advance to book Salkantay Trek? The Salkantay Trek has departures guaranteed, but train tickets and entrance to Machu Picchu are subjet to availability. For that reason, we HIGHLY recommend booking it in advance to ensure you receive exactly what you want!

PLEASE NOTE: The best time to do the Salkantay trek is on March, April, May, June, July, August and September. The weather is dry season and usually you can appreciate the grandeur of glaciar of the Salkantay Mountain. On March, April, November and December, usually is raining (2 hrs or 30 min) and the flora and fauna is best on the trek. This months are HIGH TOURIST SEASON in Cusco. It means that train tickets ARE SELL OUT QUICKLY!! Please be aware that the trek leaves daily; however, return train tickets may not be available, if you like to book on last moment. To avoid this inconvenience, please book it several weeks in advance!. On January, February is low season and It is raining. If you have a lucky, may it isn't raining.

Alternative Treks to Salkantay Trek

Many are the routes that take you to Machu Picchu, but none is like the Inca Trail Tours, the most famous pedestrian path in the Americas. After flying from the capital of Perú, Lima, you will arrive in Cusco to walk for four days along a path through forests and dense fog, millenary stone steps and discovering the ruins of ancient fortifications and Inca cities, and all the time enjoying majestic views.

If you want to visit Machu Picchu, we recommend you to book your Machu Picchu Ticket in advance, so you will enjoy your Vacation in Machu Picchu without any problem.

When is the best time to hike to Machu Picchu?

The best season is during the dry season, which covers the months April to the end of September. In October the rains begin and you can find Machu Picchu covered by clouds. If you travel in June, we recommend you to book the Inti Raymi 2020 Tour that takes place in June 24th, and also hike the Palcoyo Mountain Tour, which is an incredible Rainbow Mountain located in the Andes.
