Itineray Details
Day 01: Cusco to Machu Picchu
Today, our driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the train station. You have the day to yourself, and you can start the last-minute tour of Machu Picchu in the afternoon. In the morning, you can use your time to explore Cusco or visit the Sacred Valley.
According to our sales department, your train will depart at around 7:00 p.m. You will take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, a representative will meet you at the station and walk with you to the hotel. The representative will provide you with important information and a brief orientation on this day.
Spend the night in Aguas Calientes.
Day 02: Aguas Calientes
Today, a representative will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Ministry of Culture. There, you will receive your ticket to enter Machu Picchu. Once you have your ticket, the ministry will assign a recommended entrance time. Then, you can choose from the available circuits based on current availability. You have the rest of the day to explore at your own pace.
Additional activities in Aguas Calientes Village:
There are several activities you can enjoy during your free time. You can take a walk to the Machu Picchu Museum or hike to the Mariposario (Butterfly Sanctuary), where you can see a variety of butterflies. You can also take a short hike to the Aguas Calientes Waterfall or the Mandor Waterfall. You can do these activities on your own or hire a guide for an additional cost.
Day 03: Machu Picchu - Cusco
Today is the long-awaited visit to Machu Picchu!
This morning, we're heading to the bus station to catch a shuttle to Machu Picchu. During the ride, you’ll enjoy views of lush jungle flora and the flowing Vilcanota River. As we approach the citadel, you’ll see Inca ruins and the impressive Putucusi Mountain. Upon arrival, we’ll go to the entrance gate for document verification before entering the site.
According to your assigned Machu Picchu circuit, our guide will begin the tour. If you have Circuit 2, you will climb up to the Guardian’s House, where you can take panoramic photos before exploring the Inca citadel.
The guided tour of Machu Picchu lasts approximately two and a half hours. Afterwards, you will return to the entrance gate and take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes. There, you will collect your luggage and head to the train station for your return journey to Ollantaytambo. Our driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco upon arrival.

All of our Machu Picchu tours include a professional tour guide and a Tierras Vivas representative. Our guides are experienced professionals who have studied tourism or history in college and have extensive experience leading groups to the Inca citadel.
They are highly knowledgeable about the history, culture, and significance of Machu Picchu, and they are passionate about sharing their knowledge to enhance your experience.
A Tierras Vivas representative will also be assigned to support you throughout your Machu Picchu tour. They ensure that everything runs smoothly and that your tour is comfortable and well organized. They will coordinate with your guide, hotel, and other service providers to ensure all arrangements are in place.
When you meet your representative, he or she will ask for your WhatsApp number, which will be used as the main means of communication during the tour. If you don't have WhatsApp, we recommend downloading it before your trip.
Accommodation

We spend a night in a small locally owned hotel rooms (either twin or matrimonial) with private bathrooms and breakfast facilities. Both hotels are situated within walking distance of the railway station.
Solo Traveler: If you are traveling alone and would like to share a room, we will pair you with another traveler of the same gender at no extra cost. If you prefer to have your own room, a surcharge of USD 100 will be required. If you would like to upgrade any service, such as the train or accommodations, or if you would like to stay an extra night in Machu Picchu, please contact us directly at info@tierrasvivas.com.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON ACCOMMODATIONS: You must present a copy of your passport at all hotels. The national sales tax (18%) is charged to all Peruvian citizens and foreigners staying 60 consecutive days or more. If a taxable and non-taxable guest share a room, the sales tax will be applied to the entire room. Please take every precaution to avoid losing this document. You must bring it to the Cusco office for verification.

Machu Picchu Circuit: Last Minute Tour
This Machu Picchu tour includes a last-minute entry ticket to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, a representative will meet you at the train station and accompany you to your hotel. There, they will explain how to obtain your Machu Picchu entrance ticket in person. The representative will assist and guide you through the entire process the following day.
In Aguas Calientes, you may be able to purchase Circuit 2 tickets for Machu Picchu. This ticket allows you to explore the entire Inca citadel for about 2.5 hours. It is the most popular circuit, offering access to all of Machu Picchu’s main areas.
If Circuit 2 is sold out, the second option is Circuit 3. This ticket allows you to explore part of the citadel but includes some of the most important sites, such as the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Condor.
