    Highlights of the Sacred Valley to Inca Trail Tour

    • Visit one of the last traditional markets that remain in this part of Peru: the tourist market of Pisac
    • Get to know the Archaeological Park of Pisac (34 kilometers from Cusco), some Inca constructions scattered high up in the mountains above the town of Pisac. The site has platforms, warehouses, rooms, plazas and imposing towers that earned it the name of ‘City of Towers’.
    • Visit the archaeological ensemble of Ollantaytambo (64 kilometers from Cusco), an urban center and Inca ceremonial site. It also served as a fortress during the resistance of Manco Inca, one of the last Inca leaders.
    • Finally hike to the 2 day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, considered one of the 7 Wonders of the World.

    Full Itinerary: Sacred Valley and Inca Trail 3 Days

    Day 01Sacred Valley of the Incas tour

    We will pick you up at your hotel / hostel at 8:20 am to head to the Sacred Valley. In our tour we will descend approx. 500 meters to visit the town of Pisaq where we will visit the craft market and can buy some presents for their families. Then we will head towards the archaeological complex of Pisaq, which offers breathtaking landscapes throughout the valley. In the guided tour we will see the areas that were used as residences, temples and other architecture, etc. If you prefer to spend more time in the artisanal market instead of visiting the archaeological complex of Pisaq, you only need to inform your guide.

    After the visit to Pisaq we will continue to Urubamba, where we will stop for lunch, then we will go to Ollantaytambo which is surrounded by spectacular scenery. Here again we will be surprised by the magnificence of the Inca culture, with the amazing temple of the sun with its huge blocks perfectly carved and finished, the water fountains, and the traditional way of dressing of the communities that live around this beautiful place.

    After you have finished the Sacred Valley tour, we will transfer you to your hostel where you will spend the night and rest.

     

    Day 02Short Inca Trail

    The 2 day hike to Machu Picchu starts from pick-up at your hostel (6:00 am approx.) to go to the train station where you will board the train that leaves from Ollantaytambo train station towards Km 104 ( start of our walk). The train trip lasts an hour and a half, in this tour you will be able to appreciate beautiful landscapes and different ecosystems.

    When you reach km 104 and then cross a suspension bridge to reach the checkpoint, you must present your passport or document with which you made your reservation. At the end of the respective controls we will start with the uphill walk for 4 hours until we reach the Inca Wiñaywayna site which in Quechua means (forever young) Wiñaywayna has a height of 2680 meters above sea level and is considered one of the most attractive sites of this route. After your guided tour we will stop to eat our box lunch or snack.

    After recharging our energy we will continue our hike for an hour and a half until we reach the Intipunku (Puerta del Sol) where you can enjoy the first panoramic views of Machu Picchu.

    Finally we will continue walking through the last section of the Inca Trail until we reach the place where you can take the classic photo (postal photo) with the old citadel. After this short break, we will descend to Aguas Calientes town to spend the night. Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, you will have time to relax at the hotel before your dinner and then plan the tour in the citadel on the last day.

     

    Day 03:Machu Picchu tour

    In the morning we will go to the bus station to take the tourist bus heading to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary (400 meters uphill along a zig zag path), after 30 minutes we will arrive at the incredible wonder of the world “Machu Picchu” also known as” The Lost City of the Incas “.

    Upon arrival in Machu Picchu, we will show you the entrance tickets, then start with the tour in Machu Picchu, this lasts more than two hours throughout the Inca citadel, we will visit the main places like: the Plaza Mayor, the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Solar Clock known as the “Intiwatana”, the royal quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the temple of the Condor among many other attractions that has the wonder of “Machu Picchu”. At the end of the guided tour you will be given free time to take a walk around the citadel.

    In the afternoon you will return to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time to enjoy your lunch (lunch is on your own). After lunch, we will take a train back to Cusco.

    Accommodation in Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu

    For the first day of the tour we will reserve the hotel ”      “, and for the second day we will reserve the the hotel “Mapi Seven Machu Picchu” or “Sol de Los Andes”, both hotels offer double rooms with private bathrooms, comfortable beds, hot water for the bathroom, Wi-Fi and breakfast. Also, it includes the breakfast and a hot beverages for free.

    During the 2 day hike to Machu Picchu tour, we request the hotels to get ready for your arrival time, especially if you arrive prior to standard check-in time. Nevertheless, this is not always possible. In this case, you just store your luggage in that hotel storage room and you can explore around your new destination in between. We recommend the early booking of single supplements and of pre / post-tour accommodation. Single accommodation can be arranged for a supplement, subject to availability. Please request this at the time of booking.

     

    Optional Service for 2 day hike to Machu Picchu

    • The entrance to the mountain of Huayna Picchu is OPTIONAL. If you wish, you must add USD 80.00 per person.
    • If you prefer to travel on the train Vistadome – train service (VIP) you must add USD 40.00 per person (return).
     

    What time is the train back to Ollantaytambo on the 3rd day?

    The type of train that we usually use for the end of your trek to Machu Picchu is the Expedition train that leaves Aguas Calientes heading to Ollantaytambo at 6:20 p.m. If you prefer another type of train and schedule we can reserve the one that leaves earlier for an additional cost of $ 25 per person, the hours to choose are 2:55 or 4:35 p.m. depending on the availability of the spaces. If you are interested we also offer the option to change your Expedition train return for the Vistadome for an additional cost of $ 65 per person. Please, tell us your preference when making your reservation. It is important that you know that none of the trains mentioned above go directly to Cusco, trains only arrive at Ollantaytambo or Poroy stations. In any case, we will always guarantee a return bus to Cusco.
