Tierras Vivas: Responsible Travel & Sustainable Tourism

Tierras Vivas: Responsible Travel & Sustainable Tourism

Tierras Vivas created the Responsible People Foundation to work together to protect the planet and develop projects that benefit high Andean communities, families, and children. These initiatives focus on recovering ancestral Andean culture, supporting education, and improving the quality of life in local communities.

We believe that tourism can serve as a bridge to create positive change for both the Andean communities and the planet. Every project is designed to improve livelihoods while preserving the Andean mountains and their cultural heritage.

Responsible People has been working since 2010 with different communities in Cusco and Puno. We have also started reforestation projects in the Andean mountains to strengthen local economies and support sustainable development in Cusco.

Here we mention some of our projects, but if you would like to learn more about Responsible People, please visit our website.

Responsible People

Our Trip

Wherever our trips take us, we aim to carry our responsible attitudes with us. This encompasses a way of traveling which is respectful and beneficial to locals, their cultures, and environments. Following these steps as a small company, we hope we will make big differences in the lives of local people we meet along the way. Our main objective is to enrich the lives of the people we meet offering them exciting and unique adventures, forgetting about the prejudices, building an understanding and a new more careful world, and at the same time spending a lifetime experience.

We are excited about everything we do, and we believe in responsibility and sustainability when traveling and that locals will benefit from tour operators, hotels, and communities. Thanks to the work of our experienced crew and our philosophy, traveling is solid and constant.

Community Project

Tierras Vivas works to support Peruvian Andean communities near the city of Cusco. Our travelers have the opportunity to get to know these local people and understand their rich cultural history. Your participation in a Tierras Vivas trip will help to support the economies of the local communities and to develop intercultural understanding.

Before your booking

This may sound unusual from a travel company, but it is important that you understand our travel style. Tierras Vivas works in a way that fully values and respects cultures and lifestyles that might be very different from the lifestyle of our customers. While we strive to provide you with the best possible holiday, we do not shield you from the cultural differences, inefficiencies, and frustrations that are a part of life in the places we visit. Our emphasis is really on getting out and experiencing the real world. Please bear this in mind when choosing between our travel styles and trip options.
