Arequipa is a treasure chest full of natural treasures. The gifts offered by its countryside, combined with the majesty of its beaches, make this destination a must-see on any eventual tour of South America. We will now talk about the latter.

The Arequipa provinces of Caravelí, Camaná and Islay have access to the sea, with countless beaches that look like they came straight out of a postcard. All of them are a must if your adventure involves sailing, fishing or surfing.

Next, we present the best beaches on the Arequipa coast.

Caleta de Catarindo (Islay)

A pool of crystal-clear water that is difficult to access: to get to it, you must take several taxis, buses or colectivos from the city, with a journey of approximately 3 and a half hours. However, the journey is worth it: Catarindo is sea, sand and excellent restaurants that overlook the beach. There you can enjoy a delicious Tiradito while you observe the immensity of the ocean.

Access to Caleta de Catarindo is not the easiest, but the trip is worth it.

Playa Jihuay (Caravelí)

The nearby hills and its rolling sea make this beach a dream paradise for lovers of water sports. Even its low attendance makes it the ideal place to breathe, meditate and, above all, rest. Not to mention the gastronomy offered by the restaurants near this resort. A fresh Cebiche can be the first option.

Caleta de Quilca (Camaná)

In the past, this beach was well-known for being a port for agricultural and livestock shipping. Commercial activities decreased to leave at the disposal of the traveler a blue sea embraced by rocky paths. Its large attendance and location make it the ideal destination for family vacations.

Tanaka Beach (Caravelí)

Tanaka is a natural pool where you can swim surrounded by colorful fish, as if you were in an aquarium. Without gates, signs or modern buildings, Tanaka seems like a forgotten oasis. The area is very safe: the local people are very friendly and helpful. When you see its crystal-clear pools, surrounded by rocks, the visitor is shocked and incredulous at such beauty.

Mejía Beach (Islay)

It is a fairly busy beach, but clean and safe. It has a beautiful town at the foot of its calm waters, where tourists can find all kinds of services. Among them, hotels and restaurants, as well as recreational activities for the little ones. Mejía is another ideal destination to enjoy with the family.

La Punta Beach (Islay)

Very popular with the public, it is one of the cleanest and tidiest beaches in all of Arequipa. That is why it is the favorite of adults and children. In addition, its offer of services is far superior to that of other resorts in terms of hotels, restaurants and recreation centers.
