Machu Picchu Cruise Tour: 3-Day Trip from Lima to the Ancient Citadel
Description
This 3-day Machu Picchu tour from Lima for cruise ship passengers combines a rich journey to the Inca citadel with a stop in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The tour begins at the Port of Callao or your cruise terminal in Lima, with pickup and transfer to Lima's international airport for a domestic flight to Cusco. Along the way, you'll take in sweeping views of the Peruvian Andes and the mountain ranges of the highlands.
Upon arrival in Cusco, our team will meet you for the transfer to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You'll pass through Andean landscapes around Cusco before boarding a train to Aguas Calientes. This scenic ride follows the Vilcanota River, passing Inca terraces and archaeological sites as the surroundings shift from the highland sierra to the cloud forest. Once in Aguas Calientes, you'll check into your hotel to rest ahead of the following day.
The second day is dedicated to Machu Picchu. An expert guide will walk you through the citadel's history while you take in its natural surroundings. Afterward, you'll return to Cusco, where the third and final day includes a visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas before boarding your return flight to Lima and transferring back to the Port of Callao.
This 3-day Machu Picchu tour from the cruise ship port in Lima offers a complete look at Cusco's most significant route — connecting your cruise stop with one of South America's most iconic destinations.

Itinerary Details
Day 01: Lima to Cusco to Aguas Calientes
Today, your Tierras Vivas representative will pick you up from the La Punta terminal in Callao or from Kennedy Park in Miraflores. Once you meet your representative, you'll be transferred to Lima's Jorge Chávez International Airport. From there, you'll head into the terminal on your own to board your flight from Lima to Cusco. The flight takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes, giving you window views of Peru's coastline and, further along, the Andes mountain range. Upon arrival, you'll land in Cusco.
Our representative will be waiting for you at Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport in Cusco, holding a sign with your name — listen for it in case it's called out as well. Once you connect, your representative will hand you your train ticket, Machu Picchu entrance ticket, bus tickets, and the name of your hotel and guide, who will assist you upon arrival and later take you to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. You'll also receive a short briefing covering your full travel itinerary.
With all your documents in hand, our driver will take you to the train station to board your train to the town of Aguas Calientes. Along the way, you'll see Inca terraces, a section of the Inca Trail, and the start of Cusco's cloud forest, taking in the local flora and mountains as the sound of the Vilcanota River accompanies the ride — an unforgettable part of the journey.
Upon arrival at the Aguas Calientes train station, your representative will be waiting to take you to your hotel in the center of town. You'll have free time to rest or explore the town at your own pace. Aguas Calientes is a lively tourist town with plenty of craft markets, shops, and restaurants to suit any taste.
In the evening, around 7:30 PM, your guide will meet you at your hotel for a briefing on Day 2, including your pickup time based on your Machu Picchu entrance ticket.
