Peru, a land of rich history and vibrant spirituality, invites us to immerse ourselves in the beauty of its cities, where faith and culture intertwine in a unique way. On this journey of discovery, I invite you to Santiago de Surco, a jewel nestled on the central coast of Peru, which jealously guards its religious and architectural heritage. At the epicenter of this experience, the majestic Santiago Apóstol Parish of Surco rises.

Tourist Attractions

Main Square

Reinaugurated on December 16, 1997, by Mayor Carlos Dargent Chamot.

Located in the Surco Pueblo sector, it features beautiful, colorful gardens and an original fountain. Also noteworthy is its beautiful gazebo, located in the center of the square, where traditional retreats are held on weekends.

From the square, you can see the municipal building and the Santiago Apóstol Church.

Today, the Plaza Mayor of Santiago de Surco has become a center of attraction for Surco residents.

Vendimia Square

Vendimia Square was inaugurated on March 14, 1997, as a testament to Surco's wine-growing district.

Surco residents carry out winemaking activities and pour the grape juice into barrels for maceration.

The Municipal Nursery

This is a very important nursery for the city of Surco, producing more than 140 species of plants, including trees, shrubs, medicinal plants, ornamental plants, flowers, and more. These are later used to decorate the 400 parks and gardens in the Santiago de Surco district. Alpacas are also raised.

Friendship Park

Friendship Park is Santiago de Surco's presentation to the world and will be constantly evolving to embrace our enormous cultural diversity. It features large green areas, wide thoroughfares, plazas, fountains, roundabouts, waterfalls, rest areas, children's playgrounds, craft wagons, snack bars, parking, restrooms, lighting, sound, and signage systems, among other amenities, providing a comfortable and functional environment surrounded by lush vegetation.

Friendship Park is located at the corner of Caminos del Inca Avenue and Las Nazarenas Street. It covers 30,000 square meters.

Attractions within Friendship Park

Train Station

The train station is typical of the mountains and has a ticket office where visitors can purchase tickets and enjoy a train ride.

It features a steam locomotive dating from 1926, three carriages for transporting visitors, and a 550-meter journey through Friendship Park.

The Surcanito 237 is a 1926 locomotive that has been restored to operate on a 550-meter-long railway line, pulling three carriages and one freight car, with machinery and equipment that guarantees its optimal operation.

The park has a beautiful artificial lagoon that adorns this beautiful Friendship Park. It is a navigable lagoon where tourists and Surco residents can enjoy pleasant pedal boat rides.

Playground for Little Ones

Within Friendship Park, there is a special space for children where they can unleash their imaginations. There are special games to develop their motor skills, a rest area, and a beautiful bathroom just the right size for the little ones.
