San Borja, a district located in Lima, offers a variety of attractions, such as green areas and sports facilities.

Since ancient times, the district of San Borja has been characterized not only by its pleasant green areas, recreation centers, and parks for sports, but also by its main tourist attractions, such as the Museum of the Nation, Huaca San Borja, and the Limatambo Archaeological Complex.

One of these places is the Parque de la Felicidad (Felicit Park), which features an artificial lagoon crowned by a wooden bridge and adorned with shrubs, flowers, and a wishing well. It is a favorite among residents and visitors alike, due to its extensive green areas surrounding the Army Headquarters ("Pentagonito"). You can also see a biophysical treatment plant there, which processes water from the Surco River.

It's worth noting that San Borja is an ecological district, with 79 parks and a high percentage of green space (13.4 square meters per inhabitant). Its parks offer ample spaces for recreation and sports. There are also attractions such as the Monarch butterfly, a species threatened with extinction worldwide.

Other tourist attractions in San Borja

The National Museum is one of the most visited places by district residents and people from different places, with the sole purpose of showing the most beautiful exhibitions of contemporary culture and art. It contains models and dioramas of the life of ancient Peruvians. It also has a tour that covers the history of Peru's earliest inhabitants through to modern-day humankind.

But this isn't the only tourist attraction in San Borja; Huaca San Borja, located at the corner of Canada and De la Arqueología Avenues, is undoubtedly open to guided tours. It was built by the Ichma culture; it consists of a truncated pyramid, approximately 8 meters high, made of adobe. It also has a high perimeter wall surrounding three of the four sides, also made of adobe, which was painted white.

Inside, there is a second perimeter wall containing rooms, passageways, sloped floors, and entrances. The site was occupied from the Late Intermediate Period to the beginning of the colonial period, and during the Republic, a hacienda was built on top.

In what today corresponds to the jurisdiction of the San Borja district, the Ichma culture developed during the Late Intermediate Period. They built the Limatambo Archaeological Complex, now practically destroyed, and where Taulichusco, the last curaca of Lima, lived. Its last vestige is a huaca located in the middle of the Limatambo Towers.

As you can see, three main tourist attractions in San Borja have become the center of attention for any visitor who wants to learn more about Lima and its district, a very interesting and positive cultural experience for many.
