The Inca Trail is considered among the 5 best hiking trails in the world. In total it travels 43 kilometers in 4 days and 3 nights through an ancient network of paths made by the Incas hundreds of years ago, from the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the Intipunku in Machu Picchu. This is the main gate to the sacred city of the Incas, where people entered 550 years ago.

How many people can travel the Inca Trail every day?

How long before booking the Inca Trail permits?

Entrance tickets to the Inca Trail must be reserved with a minimum of 5 or 6 months before. However, if you plan to visit during May, June or July; You must get your ticket 7 or 8 months in advance.

Inca Trail 2 days tickets are not that hard to get. It is recommended to make the reservation weeks in advance. In the months of May, June or July; try to reserve a month before.


How to book the Inca Trail permits?

Why reserve the Inca Trail 2019 before October?

The reservation of available spaces for the Inca Trail 2019 began in October of 2018. Know that the first days, the authorized agencies will buy hundreds of spaces reserved by travelers from all over the world, so it is highly probable that the spaces for the first months (March, April, May and June) of 2019 run out very fast, as happened in 2018 and previous years.

Frequently asked questions about the Inca Trail permits


Does the Inca Trail remain open all year?

No. The Inca Trail only closes all of February. This is due to the maintenance work that takes place in that month.


Can I book the Inca Trail with a private group?

Yes. Tourists traveling together can book the Inca Trail package with a private group. The cost is higher than the normal ticket. However, this decreases the more the number of tourists in the group.


Can I book the Inca Trail permits in Cusco?

Due to the high demand for tickets, it is only possible to book the Inca Trail online and in advance. Once in Cusco it is only possible to book the Inca Trail 2 days.


What alternatives are there if I do not find availability for the Inca Trail?

If there is no longer available for the Inca Trail on the desired day, you can take the trek to Machu Picchu on the Salkantay trek tours. Another option is the Lares trek Peru tour, the 4 day Inca Jungle trek or, simply, the 2 day trek Inca trail.
