The terraces found here are impressive, a sample of Hydraulic wisdom, contain 12 terraces of quite fertile land and are still cultivated, its retaining walls are made of very well carved stones. The most impressive of this archaeological site is the irrigation system that is still serving agriculture and the advantage is the water intake in the spring season.
Pikillaqta:
Nowadays, Pikillaqta is considered as one of the best known and best preserved pre-Inca cities that exist in the beautiful country of Peru.
Pikillaqta archaeological site has the characteristics of a large urban center corresponding to the development time of the Wari empire with more than a thousand constructions between squares, colcas (food tanks), courts or homes, temples, long and narrow streets with buildings that were up to 4 stories high.
Andahuaylillas:
Typical Andean time villa of the colony of unique origin and architecture. The constructions that stands out in Andahuaylillas is the Catholic temple of the colonial era with a beautiful decoration and mural painting of the seventeenth and eighteenth century known as the Sistine Chapel of Cusco.
Itinerary Details
Half Day South Valley Tour Cusco
At 08:00 a.m. We will pick you up from your hotel and depart by tourist transport to the South Valley of Cusco.
On the way, the first tourist attraction we will visit during our South Valley Cusco Tour will be the Tipón temple. In this place we will observe the impressive canals, the magnificent water sources and a complex platform system.
Then, we will continue the South Valley Tour Cusco to the ancient city of the Waris of Pikillacta where we will appreciate the great pre-Inca urban center and the impressive views of the Huacarpay - Lucre wetland.
Finally, we will travel a short to the district of Andahuaylillas where we will visit the San Pedro Apóstol de Andahuaylillas Church, better known as the Sistine Chapel of America, which in its interior protects the best samples of the religious art of the colony. Between 1:00 p.m., the South Valley Tour Cusco finish and we return to the city of Cusco.
