Cochayoc Community

Cochayoc Community

Over the years, Tierras Vivas and Responsible People have been working with the Cochayoc community, which is home to 120 families, including young people and children. The Responsible People foundation has created various opportunities for work in the high mountains. One of the first initiatives was the introduction of trout farming, enabling the community to sell the fish in Lares or Calca town, and even bring it to Cusco. They can also consume the fish themselves.

Additionally, during the cold season, Responsible People and Tierras Vivas help by bringing cold weather clothing to the community, distributing it to all families.

For the young and school-aged children, Responsible People prepare school supply packets to ensure they have the necessary materials to study without any problems.

Many of our porters live in this community, and we ensure they have good working conditions by providing all the necessary equipment for their trips.

These donations are made possible by our travelers and Tierras Vivas, who bring clothing or school supplies, and Tierras Vivas helps to distribute them.

We have various projects aimed at improving life in the Cochayoc community, and these projects involve enhancing the overall well-being of its residents.
