When I visited Peru I didn’t imagine that I would experience something as great as the hike to Machu Picchu. First I was a little bit disappointed that we couldn’t hike along the „real“ Inca Trail because it was so overcrowded with people. In the end I realised that was the best thing that could have happen to me! We did ...

Our hike to Macchu Picchu with Tierras Viva was a breathtaking experience far beyond an ordinary tour. Hiking five days through undescovered valleys and highlands down into the colorful jungle area and being the only tourists on the way, we experienced the magical natural beauty of the Andes from a different perspective. Meeting Andean people, sharing stories and quechua ...

We chose to go on the Lares trail, since I wanted something a little less touristy than the Inca Trail. We walked into the nearest tour agency, Tierras Vivas, and were lucky enough to book a trip with them a few days later. The manager, Edwin, was very warm and thorough in his explanation of our trip and the ...

COMMUNITY PROJECT

Tierras Vivas comes to diffusing without profit helping porters families and the communities of Pilcobamba and Rallan located in the Cusco, Peru.

The project starts when we really realize that the porters work without a good rewarding for their physical effort, they must work even leaving their families and their work on their farmland.

Tierras Vivas decided to go ahead with this project with the only aim  to support economically and socially the porters families, setting up different ways of supporting them like.

  • Rural tourism, with the aim of having our clients participating of the Pilcobamba  and Rallan communities daily activities, and so the inhabitants and to tourists can get benefited from this way of doing tourism.
  • With the various donations offered by the visitors for the communities already mentioned, so we help this way to the families to get on with their lifes.
  • Porters can work with our company, and we will pay them with good wages for their work.
  • Tierras Vivas gives the chance to the communities we work with to grow their crops in a natural way and ancient since old times, and we take care of  purchasing their products at a reasonable price, so they can get more money. The products gotten by Tierras Vivas are used form our trekking tours.

Our goals:

They are based on three main purposes:

  • Protect and maintain the natural environment and the communities culture
  • Social support to  get better those communities life
  • Promote and spread a way of  tourism to share things with the locals
