 |
Trinidad is the capital of Beni. Here, you will find good hotel and lodging services, and besides, you will enjoy the varied gastronomy of the place.
The department of Beni has 8 provinces and 48 cantons.
Beni possesses a rich cultural heritage placed on its aborigine's traditions of great expression. In different dates, religious rituals, celebrated by the population and the ethnical organizations, take place. A millenary Jesuit heritage is mixed with Bolivian north tropical symbols. The geography is so singular thanks to the presence of abundant rivers that crosses flat lands. The extensive archaeological settlings represent the ancient history of Beni, one example is the colossal structure of a pre-Hispanic hydraulic culture, unique in the world, in which, the Great Millenary Moxos culture worked.
Extensive virgin lands, apt for adventure tourism and kayaking practices, are situated in the region of Cachuela Esperanza where, in 1870, the center of exploitation of rubber was established.
The Mojeña culture is one of the main pillars of the local population. Before the Colony, this culture had already printed out its everlasting footprints in the places where it inhabited. The main affluent rivers of the Mamoré River have names which come from the millenary language of the Great Moxos culture: Chapare or "origin of waters", Chimoré, Ichoa or Chontals, Isiboro or Tajibals, Securé or "mother river", and Chipiriri or "sailing channel". The name of the Mosetenes mountain range means: "Moxos is located as far as here".
Archaeological findings as ceramics and important traces have testified the presence and identity of the Mojeña culture.
