When I visited Peru I didn’t imagine that I would experience something as great as the hike to Machu Picchu.
First I was a little bit disappointed that we couldn’t hike along the „real“ Inca Trail because it was so overcrowded with people. In the end I realised that was the best thing that could have happen to me!

"Tierras Vivas provided an expedition which exceeded my greatest expectations. We took the a road less traveled which gave us access to to spectacular Inca ruins in way we could never have dreamed of - our group had the ruins all to themselves. We chose to go on the Lares trail, since I wanted something a little less touristy than the Inca Trail. We walked into the nearest tour agency, Tierras Vivas, and were lucky enough to book a trip with them a few days later. Its beginnings are attributed to a royal donation registered around 1665, in the old Pago de los Arroyos and nearby a humble chapel where an image of Nuestra Seńora del Rosario used to be venerated. That concession gave origin to the building of a small colony, next to the Paraná river, which happened to grow in a slow way. However, there does not exist a foundation act of Rosario and, even though some people claim to have taken place in the year 1793, it is considered to be officially founded on October 7th, 1793. It was declared a city on August 3rd, 1852. This city is one of the main urban centres of the country. Today, it shows the visitors its building progress and an urban plan that constantly modernizes and is characterized by its promenades and boulevards. Rosario has become a great commercial and industrial center. It is considered a first grade port, with large piers, and a point of convergence for a large quantity of the goods coming from the central and northern part of the country and Bolivia. It is worth seeing its trading dock and its grain elevators at work. This urban development goes in accordance with its economic development that can also be observed when walking along its avenues, promenades and parks; among which we can mention the Belgrano Park and Parque Nacional de la Bandera (the Flag's National Park), that encloses the monument in homage to our native insignia and its creator, the General Belgrano. Appart from all the above mentioned, it has to be added the excellent hotels, restaurants, discos, and theatres; attractives that turn it into one of the main citites in the country.
